Medina

Nominated the most romantic restaurant in Malta, The Medina is located within the ancient walled city of Mdina. The restaurant is in an old Norman residence consisting of a series of arched rooms, with two fireplaces keeping the restaurant warmly romantic in the candlelit winter evenings. Al fresco dining in the summer months is charming in the vine-clustered courtyard underneath a large and pretty pink Oleander tree.

The Medina Restaurant owned by Noel Debono and managed by Paul Scicluna was the first restaurant in Malta to be awarded the Hospitality Assured Award. The a la carte menu is based on French, Italian and Maltese cuisine and changes twice yearly for the benefit of local regulars.

Starter dishes may include home-made duck liver and orange terrine or boned stuffed quail with chicken breast mousse laced with cherry Port sauce. Main courses include duck in blueberries and Creme de Cassis sauce, saddle of lamb with saute of pears, peas and mint. For fish lovers a fish dish may include fillet of Seabream with clams and parsley jus. Vegetarian dishes are available and may include vegetarian lasagna or an avocado, sun-dried tomatoes, marinated mushrooms salad.

"Charm, impeccable service, and first class food make this restaurant the ideal hideout for that romantic or business meal". According to regulars, "you are always very nicely welcomed by the owner Mr. Debono, and its ideal for business entertainment".
