Gillieru

Situated on the corner of St. Paul's Bay directly on the water's edge, Gillieru's is a long established restaurant. You may choose to have a drink in the bar while your gastric juices begin to flow at the sight of the fresh fish displayed in half an old barrel no its side. The restaurant is large, brightly lit with white globes with a central area of black banquette seating. There is also a large outdoors eating area, partly covered, adjacent to the water's edge, with a lovely view across the bay looking on to St. Paul's Island.

The menu is long and includes a variety of different dishes including fish, pasta, meat, and traditional Maltese dishes. As well as the a la carte menu, there are also specialities from time to time as well as Friday night special fish menu which includes a selection of 4 starters, 5 main courses served with salad or vegetables and sauteed or French Fried potatoes, all for a very reasonable price.

Starters from the a la carte menu is a selection of hors d'oeuvres including smoked salmon paupiettes - baby prawns wrapped in slivers of smoked salmon or a choice of pastas which may include spaghetti vongole. Specialities of the house may include a lobster bisque soup or fresh oysters and meat dishes may range from roast duck in orange sauce to peppers steak. Maltese dishes may include Maltese style rabbit with tomato sauce. For dessert there is a range of gateaux including a hazelnut meringue.

A great location and wonderful view across St. Paul's Bay, popular for group occasions as well a romantic meal with a view of the sea
