Barracuda

The Barracuda Restaurant overlooks the enchanting bays of Balluta and Spinola, and is poised prominently at the water's edge. The Barracuda is an architectural attraction in itself and has received a prestigious award for the quality of its conversion. The dining room was once the drawing room of a prominent early XVIII century seaside villa. The balcony is one of Malta's most romantic dinner locations. Go when the moon silvers the sea.

The menu changes twice a year and offers a choice of Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Starters may include antipasti including "Antipasto di mare", a colourful seafood presentation chosen from the display trolley, and choice of 2 carpaccio dishes of swordfish or raw fillet. Soups include a fish soup, a creamy soup of lentils and a fresh clam soup lightly cooked in wine. Pasta dishes may include linguine pasta served with a delicate lobster sauce.

Main courses may include fresh fish of the day, grilled swordfish, Mediterranean thick fish soup and Mediterranean King Prawns. As well as fish there is also a choice of meat such as baked rabbit; grilled lamb cutlets; thin slices of veal in a delicious blue cheese sauce, with finely chopped fresh mushrooms topped with Parma ham, and a centre cut of prime fillet studded with green peppercorns and topped with a peppery cream sauce. Desserts are selected from the trolley, and include home made ice-creams and crepe Suzettes.

This is a "place to impress people" say devotees where "good food is served by staff that pamper you in a beautiful setting on the water's edge".
